Here’s a fun post geared more towards our home users, particularly those who read my Smartphone Roundup and are considering a Blackberry! A friend of mine sent along a fun little link from Blackberry’s website: Throw Out Your Remotes.
If you’re at all familiar with Home Automation, you’ll know that there are a number of products in this space. Many of them tend to work from Remote Controls and/or web-based interfaces. However, the article shows us that there are a number of manufacturers working on solutions that make use of the one device you generally always have by your side – your Blackberry! In the article he covers applications that allow you to:
- control your Audio-Visual equipment from your Blackberry via Bluetooth
- stream the music on your Blackberry to your home or car stereo via Bluetooth
- remotely control a computer
- control the locks, lights, and thermostat in your house
While you may not be able to control your entire house just yet, it’s exciting to see what is already in the works. It also makes you wonder what is coming in the future!
