Download and Install Numerous Common Freeware Programs Quickly and Easily!

Ninite in actionDo you fall into one of the following groups of people:

  • You recently purchased a new PC or Laptop
  • You were having trouble with your computer, and recently had the Operating System reloaded?
  • Your hard drive recently died, and you had to reinstall everything on your machine from scratch.

If so, I recently found out about a nifty tool that will help you get back to normal much faster:  ninite.com.  Ninite is a website that quickly builds a custom installer file, which will download and run install programs for many freely available programs.  Here’s a few of the programs it will run for you:

  • Web Browsers:  Opera, Chrome, Firefox, and Safari
  • Messaging:  Skype, Messenger, Pidgin, Digsby, Google Talk, and Thunderbird
  • Media:  iTunes, Songbird, Hulu, Audacity
  • Imaging:  Paint.net, Picasa, Gimp, XnView
  • Documents:  Office 2007 Standard (Trial), OpenOffice, Adobe Reader, CutePDF
  • Antivirus – MS Security Essentials, Avast, AVG Free
  • Runtimes – Adobe Flash Player, Java, .NET, Silverlight
  • Utilities – ImgBurn, CCleaner, Defraggler, CDBurnerXP, Recuva
  • Compression – 7-zip, Winrar
  • and many more.

I created an eHow document which details how to use the Ninite website:  How to Download and Install Common, Free Software Quickly and Easily. I’ve used this with much success on a few computers already – let me know your experience as well!
